Seared Tuna with Avocado

This is one of the best fish recipes I have ever made! The sauce is unbelievable. It would be great on any type of fish if tuna isn't your favorite. This can be served on a bed of greens or alone as a main entree—great with an asian salad and brown rice!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves

1 minced jalapeño chiles, seeded

2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger

4 garlic cloves, minced

4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice (3-4 limes)

1/3 cup soy sauce

1-2 Tablespoons sugar (I used a little over 1 Tbsp)

salt and freshly ground black pepper

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tablespoons canola oil

4 (6 ounce) pieces sashimi-quality tuna

2 ripe, sliced avocados

Directions:

1. In a bowl, combine the cilantro, jalapeño, ginger, garlic, lime juice, soy sauce, sugar, salt, sesame oil and olive oil.

2. Heat large skillet on high heat for one minute. Coat the pan with canola oil and heat for 30-45 seconds. sprinkle the tuna pieces with salt and pepper. Sear the tuna for one minute on each side.

3. Transfer the seared tuna to a platter (as a fish entrée ) or on a bed of spinach leaves (as a salad). Top with sauce and avocado.

Serves 4 (sauce is enough for 4-6 servings)
