Giving: a Health Benefit

July 7, 2015

There is so much more to good health than eating well and exercise. Here's a little healthy reminder for all of us:

I woke up to this text this morning and it warmed my heart. My first reaction was wow, how nice that this busy person took the time out of her day to show gratitude. It also made me realize that the time and attention we give to others makes a difference. Some of the most rewarding forms of giving only take a few seconds and can make a lasting and impactful difference in someone’s life. Not only do we help someone else, but also we help ourselves!

Studies show that people who make a habit of helping others are in better mental and physical health than those who don’t! Having meaning and feeling appreciated is a real mood booster! Bring more positive in your own life by focusing on someone else, whether it’s for a few seconds, few hours or a few days. Take the time to make a phone call, pay a compliment, lend a hand, and most importantly don’t forget to use your smile—you never know what someone is going through when you pass them on the street!
