Be True to Yourself

Writer: Susan JensenSusan Jensen

A friend of mine was in a terrible accident with crippling injuries a couple of years ago and I was reminded today of how his goals have drastically changed. Learning to be proud of the small accomplishments he makes in his everyday life is an accomplishment in itself. Our goals continue to change due to circumstances we cannot control. Some of us are struggling emotionally and some of us are struggling physically. Some us are relearning how to walk and talk, some of us are training for elite competitions or academic success. Be true to yourself and:

  • Embrace yourself and your own unique gifts.

  • Forgive yourself for your imperfections.

  • Be proud of yourself for setting goals and striving for improvement.

  • Celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small they are.

  • Don’t compare your unique self to others.

  • Do not dwell on your failures.

  • Celebrate your successes because you DO have them!
